Autumn & Winter Skincare Essentials

Autumn Winter Skincare Essentials

This is definitely my favourite time of the year. I really love it, but with all good things come the bad, and as the chilly weather starts setting in, so does the drier skin! Not fun! Nobody wants to look like a dried-up riverbed in the desert! Admittedly this isn’t a major issue for me as I have oily combination skin, but I do definitely need an extra boost of moisture and glow at this time of year. Who doesn’t want to look like a glowing goddess?! I’m going to share with you my favourite autumn and winter skincare essentials I use to show my skin some love.

First up, skin oils. I use oil all year round because I think it is an important skincare step. I definitely use it daily when the weather gets colder rather than a few times a week, and I also use oil as part of my morning routine which I generally don’t need to do.

My top skin oils are:

Farsali Rose Gold Elixir

I use this as the final step in my morning skincare routine. This is going to sound odd I realise, but this oil does not actually feel oily and greasy which for me is ideal to use in the morning. It is infused with 24k gold which is renowned for its glowing properties. This has quickly become a firm favourite for me. It leaves my skin feeling moisturised, hydrated and radiant. Thumbs up from me! Plus it smells unreal! Let’s just be honest here, what woman doesn’t want to smother 24k gold-infused oil into their face?

Sunday Riley Luna Sleeping Oil

This is my favourite night oil. At this time of year I use this daily, and like my morning oil it is also the final step in my skincare routine. I am not going to lie to you, this oil doesn’t have the best scent, its a bit like pressing a herbal teabag into your nostrils and inhaling it, it is also deep blue in colour, so if you get a bit heavy-handed, just know that you might look like a smurf.

It is also quite pricey but you only need a small amount so it will last you a while. I personally don’t mind investing in oils, serums and moisturisers if they are good and they actually work. Due to its potent retinol complex, it leaves my skin looking plump and any fine lines visibly reduced along with adding vital moisture to my skin. I honestly can’t speak highly enough of this product. I love it.

Next up are the moisturises I reach for at this time of year:

Dior Hydra Life Creme Sorbet Pro-Jeunesse

This is a heavier moisturiser than I would generally go for, but at this time of year, it is perfect. It feels amazing on my skin, it almost melts in and I feel like my skin looks healthier and more plumped when I use this. It is very hydrating which is good for my oily skin, although my skin produces a lot of oil, it is often dehydrated thirsty skin over compensating for lack of hydration. This also comes with a little spatula for a cleaner application rather than sticking your fingers in the jar and allowing all kinds of nasty bacteria to go wild.

Glamglow Thirstymud

Firstly, close your eyes, and imagine you are on an exotic beach with a pina colada served in a coconut right under your nose, well this is how this product smells. It is like coconutty, tropical goodness!! Another great feature is that Thirstymud can be used as a mask and layered thickly and left for a time before being wiped off, or you can do what I do and apply a regular amount at bedtime and sleep in it leaving it to work its magic while I get my Z’s in. I love how fresh-faced I am when I’ve left this on overnight.

I also decant this into a smaller pot to take with me when I fly, I layer this on before taking off to keep my skin hydrated during the flight. For me, it is the ultimate skin drink! Again, it is a little pricey, more so than when I got mine. But hey, you like what you like, right?!

Disclaimer: I have linked SpaceNK as it is currently in stock, however, Look Fantastic also sells it for Β£10.00 less but is out of stock, plus there are nearly always discount codes flying about for their site too.

My final two must-haves for this time of year are:

Mario Badescu Facial Spray

This product is a great multitasker, you can use it to mist on bare skin for an extra little something something, set your makeup and add moisture to a made-up face so you never have to worry about your face feeling like a dried raisin! This facial mist is infused with aloe, herbs and rosewater making it super hydrating and soothing for even sensitive skin. It’s a great little pick me up and if you enjoy rose-scented products, then you will love this! Another great thing about it is the price point! Definitely recommend this baby to anyone’s skincare regime.

Nuxe Reve De Miel

My lips are as dry as sticks at the best of times, so when this time of year rolls around they are hellish! This lip balm is my saving grace. It’s quite thick I feel which I like, and it is so long-lasting it nourishes my lips like nothing else does. It’s packed with good stuff like honey, beeswax, shea butter, almond oil and rose seed oil making it really hydrating and nourishing to keep your pout perfect!
