My Holy Grail Makeup

By now we all must be pretty familiar with this post between blogs and YouTube. I ran a twitter poll and asked if you would like to see my holy grail makeup and it was met with a resounding yes. Far be it for me to go against a majority vote so here we are.

I’m a total makeup junkie and I have a lot of my makeup, so let me tell you, narrowing down to my top favourite items per category was no easy task, especially when it came to lips! But I have successfully done it and have them all ready to share with you. I will list in the order in which I use them as it makes most sense.

Primer – Guerlain LOr Radiance Concentrate with Pure Gold

This primer is pure gold let me tell you! I saw it raved about on YouTube and knew I needed to have it. It brightens my skin so much and makes it look more taught and firm, I’ve no idea how this magic potion does it but it does! Makeup applies so beautifully over the top of it and it stays in place all day. HURRAH! A little goes a long way with this product so in theory a bottle should last a little while. I have oily combination skin and finding something to really hold my makeup in place, especially around my t-zone makes me want to shout from the rooftops! Not to mention it is infused with luxurious flakes of 24k gold. Have I not totally sold this to you already!

PS, I’ve linked it on Feel Unique and I often find discount codes floating about online to save pennies. Don’t say I’m not good to you.

Foundation – L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24h Matte Foundation

This one was easy for me, don’t get me wrong I’m totally onboard with the Estee Lauder Double Wear which probably comes in a close second, but as mentioned, I do have oily combination skin, I get particularly oily in the t-zone and this foundation just lasts me all day, I love its coverage and that it is buildable. It doesn’t slide around my oily patches, it doesn’t cling to any drier areas, and it doesn’t give you cake face, all important factors when a choosing a foundation. The fact that it costs under £10.00 is amazing to me which is why it makes it to first place.

Concealer – Maybelline Fit Me Concealer

This concealer covers so well, it blends like a dream and its texture is so beautiful and creamy. I don’t find any issues with creasing and when I set it, it lasts me all day. Another drug store goody with a great price point. Definitely my most used and reached for concealer.

Setting Powder – Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder Translucent

Shock! This is the answer for nearly all of the top setting powders I’ve seen, but it is for good reason. This powder is lightweight and so fine and silky its like cashmere on the skin. It sets and keeps makeup in place all day and works amazingly well for baking too. Highlights and seals in makeup beautifully and blends out and settles into the skin so well. I love this little beauty so much.

Face Powder – MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Foundation Loose Powder

I’ve used this for years and I love it, it made deciding this category really easy. I love how fine and velvety in texture this powder is and it dusts over the face so nicely and effortlessly, for a powder it gives a nice coverage too which is buildable. It’s a great base for more makeup and it blends well.

Bronzer – Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer

This bronzer is actually made using cocoa and totally smells like chocolate, do I even need to tell you any more?! It is a matte bronzer which can be used for an all over wash of colour, or to contour with. As mentioned the cocoa within is also a rich antioxidant, who doesn’t love a bit of that action! It smooths over the skin amazingly and blends so well. Naturally this had to be my favourite bronzer.

Blush – Becca Champagne Split Amaretto x Jaclyn Hill

I love this blush, neutral shades like this are my jam. The formula of the Becca blushes is my personal favourite as is this specific shade, this for me was a no brainer for this section. I love this colour on my skintone, it blends like an absolute dream. The texture is so creamy and buttery and the pigmentation is unreal.

Highlighter – The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer

I’m a huge fan of this highlighter. I love the colour it gives and the glow can be light, or you can take it up to super intense blinding glow. It’s a lovely soft creamy intensely pigmented pressed highlight. My ultimate go to highlight. This is so versatile and would look amazing on any skintone.

EyeshadowTarte Cosmetics Tartelette in Bloom

Ok, so maybe I’ve cheated here choosing a palette, but seriously, how could I pick only one eyeshadow to show. This palette is my most reached for, if I ever go away this always comes with me as you can create so many looks with it. The colours are my go to shades and the quality of them is so good. Creamy and buttery highly pigmented shades that look beautiful on the eyes. The right mix of matte and shimmer shades, and the ideal mix of light and dark tones.

Eyeliner – Kat Von D Ink Liner – Trooper

This liner is amazing and so highly pigmented. It glides on and with the tip being so fine its easy to achieve a sharp line with this product. Big fan of this liner.

Mascara – Lancome Hypnose Mascara

This is a long-term favourite of mine. I love the volume this mascara gives and that I can build it up to achieve the desired result, it never ever clumps. Its amazing, another easy pick for me.

Lashes – House Of Lashes Iconic

Probably not your everyday lashes as they are quite full and dramatic but I do love them, they are nice and wispy at the ends and look stunning on, they are comfortable to wear for any amount of time I feel. They are reasonably priced and complete any makeup look.

Brows – Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz

There was no contest, when it comes to brows ABH are gods! This product is creamy and it fills and blends my brows better then anything else I’ve ever tried. I love this product so much.

Lipstick – Colourpop Lippie Stix-Tootsi

Man, was this a tough one to choose! I love lipsticks, and I love all different colours. I went with my colourpop lippie stix as I love the formula, this shade is matte, but it isn’t a drying matte, it’s actually really creamy and comfortable all the while looking entirely matte, I don’t often feel I encounter lipsticks like this as I have very dry lips and matte unfortunately makes them worse. But not this one! I tend to reach for this quite a lot and have gone through a few of them and I love the colour on my skintone.

Lip Pencil – MAC Cosmetics Lip Pencil – Stone

I love the creamy formula of this lip pencil and its my favourite colour too, I use this with all nudes as a slight contrast and personally I really like how it looks.

Liquid Lipstick – Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick – Pure Hollywood

I love the ABH formula and despite having dry lips this is comfortable for me to wear and it stays in place for hours, even during meals. It doesn’t tend to crack or flake on me. I love this colour too, its my go to nude.

Lipgloss – Kylie Cosmetics Gloss – Literally

Staying on the nude theme again, but a girl likes what she likes. I love this gloss, it goes with so many shades of nude and gives a lovely high gloss look to my lips. It feels comfortable and not tacky or sticky. Always in my handbag.

Setting Spray – Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray

As mentioned, I’m an oily chica so this just works for me. Urban Decay setting sprays are highly raved about and for good reason. They do exactly as the say, spray and set all day!! Your makeup will go nowhere with this baby locking it in!
