My Favourite Face Masks & Exfoliators

I’ve recently shared a post on my morning skincare routine, but what skincare routine would be complete without adding in some of my favourite masks and exfoliators?! They’re equally important to incorporate into a skincare routine as your base products. If you have read my post about my morning skincare you will already know by now that my skin type is oily combination so some of the masks and exfoliators I use may be better suited and more targeted to that to that skin type. I love these products I’ve included in this post and they work really well for me, thats not to say they will for everyone, but they might and being the skincare junkie that I am, I love to find out what other people rave about and finding new things to try. I hope sharing my skincare posts might help to do the same for other fellow junkies!

Glamglow Supermud Clearing Treatment

Let me start by telling you that a clay mask is one of my favourite and most used masks, its one type of mask I know clears out excess oil from my skin and drastically reduces my pores which is so good for me because I swear, sometimes I could use them for storage! No jokes! I had to start with the Glamglow Supermud, this baby is my ultimate ride or die mask. I mean I actually don’t know what I did before I got this. Game changing! The mask is quick drying depending on the amount of product you use, and you can actually see the dirt being pulled out of your pores while you wear it. It amazes me how much you can actually see being extracted! It is formulated with a range of effective ingredients such as Glycolic, Salicylic and Lactic Acids that work to heal damaged skin and smooth pigmentation. I always wear it for about 30 minutes for an extra deep clean. I get so much satisfaction seeing the dirt coming out! Its great for any areas of breakout too, I will cover the affected area and it really helps to clear it up.

L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Detox Mask

This mask is another favourite of mine, it acts in a very similar way to the Glamglow mask. I don’t quite love this one as much having used my Glamglow mask, but to be honest, if I’d never used the Glamglow one this would probably be my favourite. There is quite a price difference too, but you like what you like I guess. Likewise with the Glamglow mask you also can see the pores being unclogged as you wear it, it really tightens the skin and reduces pore size too. The charcoal within this mask detoxifies the skin leaving me looking bright and fresh faced. I use this up to twice a week. I prefer to apply clay masks with a brush, otherwise I end up with black caked under my nails and thats not a good look.

Dr Brandt Oxygen Facial Flash Recovery Mask

This mask is designed to help your skin release toxins and absorb oxygen better, helping to erase signs of fatigue, while invigorating tired, stressed, dull skin by promoting luminosity, radiance, and hydration. Skin looks well rested, healthier, and younger, while being purified and protected from environmental pollutants all in one step. I often use this mask after a clay mask or an exfoliator and it really does make my skin look brighter and with a certain glow about it. I’m definitely going to keep this mask in my skincare regime. You apply it to damp skin, as you apply it you can feel it foaming up and becoming tingly until the foam is absorbed into the skin, I rinse with water and it leaves my skin looking so clean and fresh.

Tatcha Classic Rice Enzyme Powder

Huge fan of this, its such an amazing exfoliator, I love it. It doesn’t have any harsh particles in which can be quite abrasive to the skin, rather a water-actived enzyme powder exfoliant and cleanser of rice bran, papaya and Tatcha’s anti-aging HADASEI-3™ Complex. My skin feels deeply cleansed and it is visibly brighter and smoother after one use, my skin feels baby soft when I exfoliate with this. Hopefully by the time I need to replace this jar Tatcha will be more readily available to us UK lovers.

The Body Shop Drops Of Youth Liquid Peel

The newest addition to my skincare collection. This little bottle of magic works by being massaging into clean dry skin and as you massage you will feel it become bitty under your fingers, this is actually your dead skin and impurities it is gently peeling away! Gross, right?! Yet it’s quite satisfying to use because you see the dead skin coming away as you work it into your skin. It also works a serum into your skin to give you two in one benefits. Who doesn’t love that?!

Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask

This mask smells heavenly! Its actually hard to not want to eat it, it seriously smells like pumpkin pie goodness! This mask is my go to pick me up when my skin is looking lacklustre and dull, it leaves my skin feeling nourished and refreshed. It uses natural Pumpkin Enzymes exfoliate to gently remove dead skin cells whilst Alpha Hydroxy Acid peels away dull surface cells to give you a radiant complexion. I love how amazing my skin looks and feels after using this mask.

Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel

Don’t let the word peel in the title freak you out, the Papaya Enzyme Peel is a gentle and effective intro. As well as brightening the complexion, it provides free radical protection thanks to the fruit extracts as well as Porphyridium & Vitamin E. I really enjoy this mask, it is so gentle on the skin its hard to believe its actually a peel. It also smells delicious! When rinsed off my skin looks clear, brighter and more taught after a single use. Elemis are also cruelty free brand which I know a lot of people value in choosing a product.

Sheet Masks

I use all different kinds of sheet masks as part of my routine. I love to try new ones so if you have any recommendations please let me know in the comment section. I always keep the sachet the mask comes in after I’ve used the mask and I take the remaining product within the sachet to apply the next day. Making sure I get my monies worth!

What are your favourite skincare items in addition to your regular skincare routines? Are there any masks or exfoliators I need to know about? Please let me know your thoughts in the comment section. One skincare junkie to another.

  1. I love doing a face mask! It’s one of my favourite ways to chill out after a stressful day. Thanks for sharing this great round up! I’m quite stingy with how much I spend on a mask, because I love to keep trying out new ones. I think my next one will be the L’Oreal after reading this. My current absolute favourite that I always keep in the house is Lush Cosmetic Warrior.
