First Impressions & Swatches: Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette

I am just over here doing the biggest happy dance ever!! This palette is so dreamy, when I first saw it on Instagram and Snapchat from the influencers who attended the Urban Decay Naked Heat launch event I knew I would be getting one for myself. As a self-confessed beauty junkie how could I possibly resist this?! The colours in the palette are everything I love and want in a palette, they scream out to me. It really was a case of love at first sight and boy did I fall hard for this one.

Urban Decay had a presale on Monday 12th June at 1100 where they released a very limited number of palettes over a month ahead of general release and it caused an absolute frenzy! It brought with it all the stresses of a new launch let me tell you. It was in stock, it was out of stock, it was in stock, this continued to be the case well into early afternoon, some even managed to get it into their basket and all the way to checkout to be told it was sold out. Absolutely soul-destroying! Fortunately with the help of some very lovely bloggers and fellow makeup junkies many of us were able to get one of these much sought after palettes. Please don’t fret if you missed out, the general launch is July 27th and the rate at which time flies it will be here in no time!

Okay, first things first, the packaging. This is packaged in a cardboard sleeve with a gorgeous design showcasing the beautiful shadows that lay within and of course the palette name. The palette slides out of the sleeve while sat within an open top cardboard box the revel the palette. In keeping with the rest of the Naked family this palette comes to us in rectangular packaging, it’s a hard plastic material that has been used for Naked Heat, it feels of a high quality whilst being very sturdy and robust making it a great traveling companion. It also comes with the standard mirror in the palette lid and a double-sided brush. It’s an entirely warm toned palette with a variety of finishes from matte, shimmer and some metallic. It’s a gorgeous mix of warm tone nudes, ambers, browns and reds.

The shades within this palette are:

Ounce: Pale ivory ideal for all over and brow bone highlight (Shimmer)

Chaser: Light nude ideal for transition  (Matte)

Sauced: Warm terracotta brown (Matte)

Low Blow: Mid brown (Matte)

Lumbre: Copper with gold pearl reflects (Shimmer)

He Devil: Rich burnt red (Matte)

Dirty Talk: Metallic burnt red (Shimmer)

Scorched: Deep metallic red with golden micro shimmer (Shimmer)

Cayenne: Deep warm terracotta (Matte)

En Fuego: Deep burgundy red (Matte)

Ashes: Deep red/brown (Matte)

Ember: Deep metallic copper burgundy (Shimmer)

Urban Decay have done an amazing job on the palette down every last detail. I love the shade names, the formula is so rich and creamy the shadows almost feels like butter to touch which in terms of makeup, this is what you want in your powder formulas. The pigment is deep and intense, both matte and shimmer shades have fabulous colour payoff. Urban Decay have hit the right note on mattes to shimmer shades and they all compliment one another so beautifully. I 100% know already that this palette will be a staple for me, warm tones are my personal favourite and it’s the perfect size to travel with and there are so many looks to be created using this palette.

Shades L-R

Ounce, Chaser, Sauced, Low Blow, Lumbre, He Devil, Dirty Talk, Scorched, Cayenne, En Fuego, Ashes, Ember.

Urban Decay have well and truly impressed me with this palette, I absolutely love it. The colours have been so well picked, the formulas are amazing, particularly the shimmer shades! They have pigmentation for days. They all swatched beautifully with little fall out and giving the texture of the formula I can tell when applied to the lid they will all blend seamlessly to create stunning makeup looks. I can’t wait to properly play with this and do my makeup. It will be a task in itself not to want to grab every colour! Must use restraint!

The palette costs £39.50 which for 12 shades I personally don’t feel is unreasonable or expensive, you are getting a high quality product for your money and if you love your warm tones than this is the palette for you. My brain is going crazy looking at it planning so many Summer makeup looks. This may be called Naked Heat and make many beautiful looks for the Summer season, the shades will also be perfect for going into the Autumn and Winter too, even Spring again with its lighter shades. It’s a great all rounder and I am so glad I got one.
