MAC Snow Ball Holiday Collection 2017

It has been sometime since I fan-girled this hard over a MAC collection let me tell you! Go back around 7 years and MAC was pretty much all I would ever wear. I was a loyal, die-hard fan of the brand and anything limited edition I inevitably needed! For the most part I was always on the ball for the launches. Anyone who knows MAC will be well aware how limited their limited edition products are. The holiday lines would always be better stocked, but sometimes even then if was a real fight to get those must have pieces! The launch stress was real and I had many broken nights stalking their website willing the updated page to reveal their latest collection!

Don’t get me wrong, I still love MAC, some of their products are my absolute ride or dies, but I don’t buy from the brand very often anymore. Maybe once or twice a year if that. Generally I watch their limited edition collections pass me by without a second look. That was until I saw images of the new Snow Ball Holiday collection begin to circulate! OMG, my inner MAC fan girl died! I was right back in that place I was 7 years ago and I knew I needed this collection in my life! The packaging was to-do-for! I kid you not, it is so beautiful! The colours and products screamed out to me! I felt powerless to resist.

MAC Snowball collection

October 26th came along, from about midnight on the hour, every hour I had my alarms set to wake me to check for it being released. I know, I know, a bit extreme right? It must have been around 0300 when I saw it online, I was lucky enough to have been able to buy all of the pieces I wanted, and them some! Even now I am still so glad I did it, feeling half asleep the following day was so worth it!

First of all lets just take a second to appreciate the packaging! MAC, take a bow! You have really outdone yourselves on this collection. The embossed Snowflakes in the eyeshadows and face powders are stunning. The gold and rose gold hues throughout this collection are a real thing of beauty. I would even go as far as to say I think that this is the best collection MAC have released. Now that’s a bold statement, but I genuinely believe it, it’s definitely my personal favourite.

I know since launching that some things have sold out unfortunately, so I ran a Twitter poll asking if I should include it all, or only available products, and including everything won by a country mile. I will note beside each item if it is available online or not, and I will link all available items. They might be available at your local MAC concession however, can’t hurt to look.

MAC Snowball collection

Ok, so I’m going to start out with the individual items first, and follow on with the kits I picked up.

Colour Collection

Extra Dimension Eyeshadow

  • Stylishly Merry – Duo chrome – Gold iridescent which breaks pink/orange
  • Delicate Drift – Duo Chrome – Light pink with rose gold reflects
  • It’s Snowing – Shimmer – Mauve pink tone

The Extra Dimension shadows are embossed with a snowflake into the powder, they look stunning. The quality and pigment are incredible. I absolutely love the shade range which has been included within this collection. All together there are five individual shadows. All but on are sold out online unfortunately. The MAC counters may still have availability on items sold out online however.

Lipstick

  • Holiday Crush – Frost Finish – Muted pink shimmer
  • I’m Glistening – Frost Finish – Cool toned mauve shimmer
  • Elle Belle – Amplified Creme – Rich berry red

The lipsticks in this collection are very much what you might expect for a Christmas collection. All but two are frost finishes. Of course there is a red, and also a deeper berry red too. The lipsticks are only available at the MAC counters or shops. My local MAC stands have a few of the lipsticks left in stock so hopefully that might be the case elsewhere.

I personally love MAC lipsticks and their formula is one of my favourites. I don’t generally go for a frost or lustre finish as I find them too sheer, but the frost finishes in this collection worked really well and I liked how they looked on.

Impalpable Glare Face Powder – Happy Go Dazzlingly

I don’t really understand why MAC never name these things as a highlighter, which is exactly what they are. This is a soft champagne gold which gives a beautiful highlight and as it is light I feel that it would be suitable for fair skin tones. I am quite fair myself and I love this on. I do believe this will only be available at your local MAC shop like the rest of the individual items mentioned.

Snow Ball Eye Compact – Rose Gold

Originally I wasn’t planning to get this, it wasn’t until I went in store and I was swatching that I decided I had to have it. The quality of the shadows were fab, they felt so rich and creamy, the colour payoff was so intense too. I really loved the selection included in this palette. Such a perfect palette to create warm, rose gold festive looks. You also get a double-ended brush which has versions of their full-size eye brushes, 456SE and 457SE. The palette retails for £30.00.

  • Budding Passion – Lustre – Reddish-brown copper
  • Drama in the Snow – Satin – Rich dark brown

Kits

Snow Ball Face Bag Whisper Of Gilt

Surprisingly this is still currently available which I really didn’t expect. If you are familiar with MAC, you will probably know the popularity of Whisper Of Gilt. MAC have repackaged it and embossed a beautiful snowflake design into the powder, partnered it up with a gorgeous sequin makeup bag, complete with face brush. This would make a beautiful gift for a beauty junkie. It is a stunning golden highlight with an intense sheen. This could also double-up as an eyeshadow too. It would be stunning on the lid or inner corner. The set costs £35.00.

MAC Snowball collection

Snow Ball Face Bag – Show Gold

This set is the same as the above one I mentioned, but the highlight included within this set is called Show Gold and is a peachy-golden shade which breaks pink. It is a gorgeous colour. The set has sold out, but Show Gold is part of their permanent line, the only difference being the packaging, and the price. I will link the permanent version here.

MAC Snowball collection

Snow Ball Lip Bag – Nude

  • Lipstick: Sending Love – Cremesheen – Warm-toned nude
  • Lip Glass: Iced Dream – Nude with pink and gold pearl reflects
  • Pro Longwear Lip Pencil: Doubletime – Pinkish-brown

I love this set, it makes for a great gift for yourself, or someone else. The nude tones are beautiful and all work so well together. Creemsheen is one of my favourite finishes from MAC. The lip glass is a beautiful colour too. This set will create the perfect nude, high-shine lip to pair with a dramatic glamorous eye look to wear over the party season. Can we just take a second to appreciate the gorgeous bag they all come in,  so pretty isn’t it?! I absolutely love it.

The set contains three full-size product and costs £32.00.

MAC Snowball collection

Snow Ball Pigment & Glitter Kit – Gold

What a fab little set this is, the pigments are an ideal size, I never ever finish a full-size one. I find these much more user-friendly. The rose gold sequin bag these are packaged in is so pretty and sparkly. I am so impressed with the packaging of this years collection. Each set contains two mini pigments and one glitter. In the gold set you get:

  • Vanilla – Pigment – Ivory white
  • English Gilt – Pigment – Champagne gold
  • Gold – Glitter – True gold

This set costs £25.00.

So as you can see I went a little crazy, and that is why I am now on a spending ban! Wish me luck. Could I have picked a worse time of the year to stop buying!

Did you grab any bits from the collection?

I did want to buy myself the lipstick collection but never got the chance to then last time I checked it was out of stock. I’ve only ever tried their Studio Fix foundation and I discovered its not good for dry skin but I’m desperate to try some of their lipsticks, hear the formula is fantastic! I’m slowly swaying towards buying one now … just for this packaging haha!
