Winter Wardrobe Staples

Winter fashion is my absolute favourite, I just love it! Shops should come with a warning sign, “enter at your own risk” because I will need everything I see. My self-control is lacking at the best of times, you can imagine the difficulties I face at this time of year.

Mustard, burnt orange, and burgundy colours are my jam! I live for all of the deep colours we see so much this time of year. Wearing said colours is my comfort zone, my fashion happy place and I really come alive in terms of fashion around now. There really is nothing better than being hugged by a thick cosy jumper while Jack Frost is nipping at our toes. So comforting! Hot drink in hand! So snug!

I’ve picked up some great key pieces see me through the impending cold season. After all, Winters Coming. (SORRY) I couldn’t help myself on the Game Of Thrones reference. Or is Winter here? It’s hard to tell in the UK, our weather is so prone to change at a moments notice!

It’s been so cold lately I’ve found myself layering with leggings and long sleeve tops under my work uniform, two jackets and many pairs of socks. I’m that person who always has the heating on, sits up against the radiators and who never gets warm.

Anyway. Enough rambling! Lets move on to my staple pieces I’ve added to my wardrobe to keep me cosy this Winter.

Yellow Knitted Jumper – Topshop £29.00

I’m not going to lie, I’m slightly obsessed with this colour at the moment. Not quite yellow, but not quite mustard, but so soft and cosy on that it keeps you super toasty when Jack Frost is about.

Sweater weather is well and truly in full swing. I think cosy knitted jumpers like this are possibly my favourite item of clothing for the colder months. A real must have, invaluable addition to my wardrobe this Winter.

Large Check Boyfriend Fit Trousers – Topshop £39.00

It’s only very recently that I’d found a love for trouser shopping. It was always an area of shopping I hated as it was always sure to obliterate my self-confidence. For a while I was stuck in a legging rut, but now that trouser shopping doesn’t invoke that worry it once did, I fully embrace it.

These boyfriend trousers from Topshop are such a comfortable fit, and I love the navy with large white check design. They’re high-waisted so they elongate my petite frame. They marry up perfectly with cosy knits I love so much.

Sparkley Boots – Primark £14.00

Winter without boots would be like Ant without Dec, Gin without Tonic or strawberries without cream, they just work together. I practically live in boots during the winter months and a new season is always a great reason to invest in a new pair.

I first saw these boots when a woman was trying them on, I was like a dog looking for a bone trying to track them down. I found my size and tried them and fell even more in love. So fun and perfect for this time of year to add a little sparkle as I walk.

Orange Fur Pom Pom Hat – Primark £3.00

A warm hat is an essential for me during these colder months. My current favourite style is a chunky knitted hat with a faux fur pom pom adorning the top. Primark have these in abundance in a whole array of colours. I’ve bought so many, but most recently this perfectly coloured dark orange hat. What’s more they only cost a mere £3.00!

Burgundy Cord Pinafore – Primark £13.00

I have a real love for pinafores and I tend to wear them all year round. I absolutely loved this burgundy corduroy pinafore as soon as I laid eyes on it. There couldn’t have been more than three hanging up, I was more than surprised to find my own size among them. I was obviously meant to have it. So I did! I love to wear it with cable knit tights, and a breton stripe tee for winter. It’s definitely one of my favourite pieces I’ve added to my wardrobe.

Chunky Cable Knit Cardigan – New Look £24.99

Wearing this is like being hugged, it’s so snuggly and cosy! The perfect piece for layering up for extra levels of heat. Grey is such a universal colour that goes with everything too and I absolutely love the chunky cable knit.

Black Check Frill Hem Cropped Trousers – New Look £13.99 from £19.00

It’s gives me great pleasure, and a small sense of accomplishment to be able to mention my second pair of trousers! See, I told you I was embracing my new-found love for trouser shopping! Go me!

I really love the check pattern on these trousers and the frill detailing on the bottom sets them off for me, it adds a little something extra. They are so flattering on and can be dressed, or dressed down and they will work well with so many looks. You can’t beat a key item of clothing you can wear in a multitude of ways.

Black Check Blazer – New Look £27.99

Of course when I cast my eyes upon the matching blazer to my cropped trousers it was a done deal. It’s such a flattering fit and length and could be paired to so many outfit choices.

I’m trying to make a conscious effort to change-up the clothes I wear and pick different things, now I know a blazer isn’t much but it’s been years since I owned one. It’s a little change for my wardrobe to ease myself into my switching up my clothes.

I’m loving the colour palette you’ve got going on here. The burgundy pinafore really speaks to me. I have to admit that the last few years I’ve lived in leggings and jeggings, but I think post-pregnancy I’m going to invest in some nice trousers, as I love the look of the checked ones you’ve got.
