Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette Accessoires Review

Welcome to my Louis Vuitton Multi Pochette Accessoires Review.

The Multi Pochette Accessoires is one of Louis Vuitton’s most sought-after bags in recent years. Since its initial inception, the bag has proved elusive. Ahead of its launch, Louis Vuitton implemented such an aggressive marketing strategy that it created a whirlwind of hype. Instagram was flooded with images of influencers showcasing the new must-have bag. The bag was sold out before it even hit the shelves with lengthy waitlists for any bags that did filter into stores or online.

To this day the Multi Pochette remains extremely difficult to find. There was a brief period toward the end of 2020 which saw it available to purchase online more frequently than in previous months. Since then it has largely been unavailable. I think this might have a lot to do with Louis Vuitton’s new approach to limiting the production of their classic canvas items in favour of leather pieces.

She’s very much an on-trend bag and she packs one hell of a punch!

Let’s Take A Closer Look At Her

Alongside the modern, on-trend design of this bag it is also a hugely versatile piece made up of 5 separate components. You have two main Pochettes, one larger and the other a little smaller. The jacquard strap gives me major utility vibes. On said strap, you have the round key purse or pouch if you will, and finally the gold accompanying chain for the Pochettes.

The bags are mainly made up of the classic Monogram canvas and feature small vachetta leather tabs on the front. The jacquard strap also features a small vachetta detailing where it attaches to the pochette and where the coin purse attaches. The raw, untreated vachette leather will patina in time and can water stain if not treated. I always feel that this is worth mentioning as for some people vachetta can be a deal-breaker.

The pochettes are both good sizes and both comfortably fit my iPhone 11 Pro Max. One thing worth noting is that the gold chain does not have clasps on either end so it only fits the small pochette. All of the hardware has a gold finish and the interior of the bags is a textile lining. In the Monogram canvas, there is the option of either a khaki strap or a pink strap.

Due to the huge success and popularity of the Multi Pochette Accessoires Louis Vuitton has now introduced this in leather versions and it recently featured in the limited summer By The Pool collection. You can see how this bag has influenced other designs since with a lot featuring the jacquard strap and multi-bag styles.

As of June 2021, this bag is priced at £1500.

Functionality & Wearability

This bag ranks high for functionality due to all of the accompanying components and the overall versatility of the bag. I love the variety of ways you can use it and change up your look. It transitions well from day to night. If this is your cup of tea and you love a bit of monogram it’s a good piece to have. It makes for a great travel bag due to the various ways it can be worn too.

Despite being considered very much a trendy bag I feel that it is suited to all styles. I’ve seen this worn with so many different outfits and it always looks great.

If you’re someone who can scale down what you carry in your bag this will 100% work. It’s definitely more of an essentials only sort of bag. I found that if I overfilled the bag the two pochettes would sit at more of an angle rather than flush on one another. I really didn’t like how this looked and in truth, it didn’t take a lot of items inside to make this happen.

Durability & Quality

Ok so here’s the thing. I love Louis Vuitton, they’re the brand I own most of my luxury pieces from. That said I don’t always find their quality consistent. When you consider the cost of the items you’d expect to have them be of consistently high quality but in reality that just isn’t the case.

Some of the issues I found with the bag I received were poor stitching, parts of the canvas were misshapen and creased, one of the vachetta tabs was stitched on at an angle. On the strap, the vachetta tabs were poorly stitched to the point it has damaged the leather. It was on the back where you couldn’t see but the point is it was still there.

Overall I find the quality of Louis Vuitton pieces to be a bit hit and miss, unfortunately. Of all my items this was the only one I had any real issues with. It was for that reason I actually decided to return it. Sometimes I miss not having it in my collection but despite the quality issues I just didn’t love it like you should love these sort of items.

I was back and forth on whether or not to return it for weeks. I had to be really honest with myself and do the right thing for me. After all, if we’re dropping this kind of cash on a bag we can’t settle for anything less than love. Or at least I can’t. I get a certain feeling from my luxury pieces and I know when it feels right. This just didn’t give me those feelings and if I’m truthful I think the hype pulled me in more than anything.

Is It Worth It?

This is a tricky question to answer for this piece. If you do the math based on similar components Louis Vuitton sells separately I feel that this has now gotten to a price point that is not justified. If I remember correctly this bag was originally launched with a price point of £1070. That’s a substantial increase since September 2019.

Ultimately it will come down to what you feel it is worth to you and what you are willing to pay. I wouldn’t be prepared to add it back to my collection at this price. I have similar pieces I prefer using.

You do get a bag that you can utilise in a variety of ways, it is a great day-to-day bag and if you use it as such the cost per wear will work out well. Despite returning I think this is a great bag although it just wasn’t the right fit for me. One thing I would say is that if this is on your wishlist ask yourself whether you would want this if it wasn’t for social media. If you saw this in-store without any marketing would you still love it and want to buy it? For me, the answer was probably not. Learn from my mistakes on this one.

That said I’m a real advocate of buying what you love and what works for you. If this is the bag you love and want then you should get it regardless of what anyone says.
