Know Cosmetics Product Review

This is a brand that until recently I hadn’t heard of. They’re quite new I believe, and they have a small range of products currently available. They’re a Canadian company and you can buy their products direct or from Sephora, and in the UK, Superdrug.

I was very kindly sent some products to try to see how they worked for me. I received four products to try from the range which is almost all of the products which are available.

The aim of Know Cosmetics products are to be universal and work for everyone, which is odd to me when you look at what you can buy. The shade selection I found to be poor in the two products I received which are coloured.

The products are more targeted toward combating beauty problems rather than be actual cosmetic products themselves if that makes sense. Like bleeding lipstick, dark circles under the eye, etc.

Let’s just jump straight into the products and I’ll tell you how they worked for me and whether I enjoyed them or not.

No Bare Brows*

This is essentially an eyebrow pencil which is double-sided. One side is a brown shade which in terms of colour it’s a good match for me. The other side is a transparent white shade which I used to sharpen up the brows once done.

You also get a separate lid with a small brush on one side to go over the brows once done, and a pencil sharpener too which I quite liked as its handy for on the go.

The formula is very odd to me, it’s quite waxy / oily feeling which I don’t find lends itself well to a brow product. They don’t look natural when I use this, rather quite greasy and tacky.

Something else which I think is a bit of a faux pas on the brands part is that this shade is the only colour available, which of course won’t work for everyone. It is my shade which is mid brown so that rules out so many people right off the bat.

No Thin Lips*

No Thin Lips is a clear formula, applied like a gloss and is designed to plump the lips. It has a doe foot applicator and it glides on easily, the texture is similar to lipgloss and is a little tacky but not uncomfortable.

Once applied it doesn’t take long before the tingly sensation occurs. I don’t generally like plumping products for this reason, I can’t bear the feeling of the boarderline burning and tingling effect.

Despite feeling it doing something, I can’t say I noticed my lips alter any. What I will say is that I do have quite full lips naturally so it might be that they won’t change a great deal. Some people have noticed a change with this, I personally didn’t. I don’t often find that products like this do a lot for me to be honest. That could be down to me more than the product though.

No Dark Shadows*

This product is a concealer pen in a similar style to the YSL Touch Éclat. I actually really like this product, I find it to give a good coverage, it’s blends in well and I also find it to be long wearing. It doesn’t gather into my fine lines and creases which is a bonus. It gives a brightening effect I’ve noticed, when I use this I always feel that I look really fresh-faced and brightened particularly the under eye area.

I opted for the shade which has pink undertones which on my pale skin works beautifully. This leads me on to my issue with this product, it only comes in two shades, the other has a more yellow tone base. To only offer two shades of a concealer is crazy to me

I’m light-skinned and if one shade is right for me, that means it won’t be suitable for a lot of people. To offer only two shades I feel is unacceptable. When you have the likes of Fenty Beauty bringing a huge 40 shades of foundation to the party on their initial launch it really puts things into perspective.

No Bleeding Lips*

I like the concept of this being a universal clear colour lip liner to be paired with any colour lip product to stop them bleeding. As mentioned it’s clear in colour and has a wax, cream like consistency when applied. It is a little awkward when applying as you can’t see where the product is and it’s a bit of trial and error to see if and where you see any bleeding.

I do feel that this works as any other liner does, only this works with all lip products which is a great selling point I feel.

Overall the products have been a bit hit and miss for me and I’d probably not be inclined to repurchase. I do like the concealer but the poor shade range is disappointing to say the least. Just because these products haven’t all worked well for me isn’t to say they wouldn’t for other people. It’s a completely personal preference and although this seems to be a bad review, it is a very honest review.

Have you tried out this brand?

  1. I haven’t heard of this myself but that packaging is gorgeous! Shame about the brow product, I tend to go for an ashy blonde/brown and only a mid brown when I want a dramatic brow so that would rule me out completely. Hopefully when they release a fuller line, that there will be more products to try and test and hopefully a gem amongst it.

  2. I love your honesty, it’s refreshing to see an honest review. It’s 2018 and a brand shouldn’t be launching a concealer that only has two shades I think they are defo missing a trick there.

It’s a really same this brand wasn’t overly successful for you, but I’m glad to have read your review as I don’t feel I’d be suited to the products either!
