No more razors, shaving or shaving cuts. What a dream that would be! I’m sure I speak for most women in saying that shaving really is a necessary evil. It seems that no sooner have I shaved, the little prickles of regrowth begin coming back through. I don’t know about you, but once I shave I feel like a new woman who has really got her act together. Especially in the Winter when the need to shave has been significantly reduced by the layers of clothes we wrap ourselves up in. An extra layer of insulation sometimes comes in handy.
There are other options, waxing, epilating and of course there is always professional laser hair removal which can be achieved over a course of sessions, but its a pricey business which suddenly makes shaving seem a lot more appealing. Fear not! Becoming a hairless, adult baby needn’t require a small loan anymore. There are many at home hair removal devices on the market for a fraction of the cost!
Granted it is pricey in comparison to your trusty Venus razor, but when you consider it’s a one-off cost to end all future shaving costs and waxes it suddenly doesn’t seem so bad. I mean razor head replacements aren’t cheap and they last only a handful of uses!
So are hair removal devices really worth it?
*Spoiler* Yes, and here’s why.
Ok, so before you can use this device, first you must shave. It did seem a little odd to me as I had never considered that would have been the case. As it was my first experience using an ILP hair removal device I didn’t question it. My first thought, OMFG I’M BLIND! Please take this as fair warning that the flashing light is brighter than the sun. I’m not even joking! Have your shades ready!
It’s very easy to use with it only having one button hold down. It’s light enough to hold comfortably on the desired area and it is suitable for all areas of the body. The shape of the device that holds the light is perfect for all areas also, it covers the skin to ensure no area is missed. You can use it by slowly moving the device as it flashes, I find this best on bigger surface areas. For smaller areas such as underarms I prefer to hold it in place and press the button in, and move it in stages rather than one continuous movement.
This device works by flashing a series of lights at a rapid pace directly into the surface of the skin, the light is absorbed by the pigment in our skin which in turn damages the hair follicle to halve regrowth and in some cases stop it all together after prolonged use.
I’ve been using this over the course of around two months, and around 3/4 times per month. In that time my hair has been significantly finer as it comes back in, with some areas having no regrowth at all. My regrowth takes longer between shaves and treatments as a result now too.
The results will vary from person to person and depending on skin tone, hair thickness etc. The darker your skin the more melanin that is present making it harder for the light from the laser to be absorbed into the skin. Being a fair gal I was able to see results early on.
Overall I’m really pleased with the results. I love how infrequently I need to shave since I began using this device. If you can comfortably afford the device I would recommend it.
You can find it here.

I’ve always wanted to give one of these a go. My friend had one and I was always scared of it haha. Would be so fab to get rid of the unwanted hair for good x
this seems interesting, reminds me of the no-no that was advertised all over the tv a few years back
I’ve got the larger Smoothskin device and am absolutely loving it! I’m so lazy with wanting to shave and this is making my life so much easier!
Laser Removal was my best ever investment! I don’t think hair will ever be completely gone, but mine are so fine and sparse I can dry shave every few months without a problem.
I’ve IPL’d my legs and that’s as far as I’ll go now! the pain! haha xx
