I, like so many of us do, revere Jo Malone. There’s just something so luxurious and indulgent about owning products from within the brand. Being of a higher price point I consider any Jo Malone purchase a special treat, as such I tend to only get new products either gifted, or if I’m passing through duty free, I mean who can resist 20% off right?! Not me! You can imagine my sheer delight as I learned of a completely new product which aired more on the side of beauty than the rest of the line. I was so intrigued and excited to try it, especially when I found out that said new launch was a lip product! Being a huge lip balm advocate I like to think I can spot a good one when I find it. Given my love of Jo Malone products I instantly had high hopes. I knew I would be purchasing this at the first opportunity I had. No sooner had payday arrived and it was mine. It was as simple as that.
I must admit on learning the lip care product scent was a combination of both English Mint and Ginger, I was a bit apprehensive. I couldn’t quite fathom how the cooling scent of mint would lend itself to the warm spice of ginger. But if there is one thing Jo Malone can do well, it is to blend scents beautifully and having mastered their craft, they always get it so right and this product is no different. It would never be a combination I would have expected to see together, but they work so beautifully with one another.
The packaging is everything you would expect from Jo Malone. A sleek and simplistic design which is oozes class and sophistication. It comes presented in the trademark cream and black box complete with hand tied bow all Jo Malone fans know and love. The product comes in a sturdy glass jar with black gloss screw fastening lid.
This is what Jo Malone have to say about their most recent offering.
“Nourishing English Mint & Ginger Lip Care. Softens, soothes and repairs dryness. Enriched with moringa butter, rose flower wax and kukui seed oil to help condition and protect lips. Scented with enlivening notes of mint. Balanced by the lively brightness of ginger. An irresistible combination of the fresh and the spicy. Perfectly-sized to take with you.”
It’s hard to know what else to add to that as they describe it so perfectly themselves. What I can add is how it worked for me and give my opinion on this.
I find that a little goes a long way so a light hand is required. The product itself is of a medium to thick consistency which melts into the warmth of the lips. The mint soothing them as it hydrates and nourishes whilst repairing any dryness and flaking that might be present. Due to the thicker consistency I find it extremely long-wearing, even when eating and drinking. I never need to reapply more than twice a day when using this.
Since using this my lips feel soft and moisturised, I no longer suffer with any dryness or cracking which at this time of year is a struggle for me. I’d go as far as to say they look plumper which I expect will be down to how hydrating this formula is.
I have to say, I’m a huge fan of this, I think Jo Malone have done a wonderful job creating this little jar of magic. Lip balms are one of my most used products so making such a bold statement doesn’t come lightly. I’m keen to see if they launch more scents in time after the initial launch. Coming in at £20 a jar it might be a little steep for a lip balm, but with such incredible benefits I don’t find it offensive at all. I’d have no qualms about spending £20 on a lipstick, I don’t see a lip balm that nourishes and heals the lips any differently.
Have you tried this yet? Do you plan on buying this if you haven’t already?
