Dermalogica Phyto-Nature Firming Serum * is one of the most recent additions to Dermalogica’s Age Smart skincare line. It is a 2-in-1 dual-phase lifting and firming serum that reawakens and preserves the nature of younger-looking skin. The serum works to reduce the signs of premature ageing and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It claims to minimise the appearance of fine lines after only one use. A bold claim it makes, but how does it perform? Continue reading to find out my experience with Phyto-Nature Serum. I have been using this for a good few months now so that I am able to give a good review of the serum.

Ageing is something that comes to us all, our faces are often the first place where it shows. What we can control is the level of ageing that shows on our face with various options. Skincare products are one of my prefered options as they’re easy and painless and let’s face it, I’m a skincare junkie so it feeds my addiction.

So how does it work?

The dual-phase serum works in two ways. The firming side uses Sapphire-bound biomimetic peptides and next-generation Hyaluronic Acid to protect the skin from premature ageing caused by environmental and lifestyle factors. In short, it reinforces the skins natural defences.

The lifting side harnesses Phyto-Nature technology uses potent plant-derived extracts like antioxidant Moroccan Rockrose extract and Madagascar Green Coffee Beans. It is this potent formulation that visibly revitalises the skin while working to minimise fine lines and wrinkles. The serum aims to boost our natural collagen production to give a filler like effect.

It all sounds pretty great, right?

How Does It Perform?

As mentioned I have been using this for a good few months to give me more than enough time to give it a fair shot. I use it both morning and night as part of my skincare routine. In the morning I use one pump and at night I use two. I have oily-combination skin which is why I only use one pump in the morning as I find it the perfect amount for my skin.

Both serums dispense evenly and blend together seamlessly to apply to the skin. They create a smooth, silky texture which glides over the skin with ease offering an even application. It is easily absorbed into the skin leaving feeling soft, nourished and with a healthy glow.

I have to admit that I was a little sceptical about the claim of it working after one use. However, after my first application, I did feel that my skin looked a little more fuller and taught. It wasn’t a huge difference but a difference nonetheless. With prolonged use, I only saw this improve further. My skin looked plumped in a youthful way, my lines and visibly reduced. It took around 2/3 weeks of continued use to notice a greater improvement. My most notable difference is around my forehead where I had a couple of fine lines starting to appear. They’ve reduced so much that one is bearly visible anymore and the second is very fine. The second area is around the side of my eyes where smile lines appear. The whole area looks fuller, more plumped and the fine lines ironed out.

Personally, I love this and it has worked incredibly well for my skin. I have seen all of the differences that it promises and I would be more than happy to repurchase myself.

Is It Worth It?

With a price tag of an eye-watering £130, it is definitely a skincare investment, but isn’t our skin worth investing in? I’m sure we would not think twice of spending £130 on a gorgeous bag or pair of shoes. Doesn’t our skin deserve the same consideration? I think so. I always maintain this thought on anything I buy. An item is only ever worth what we’re prepared to spend on it and what it is worth to us. So to ask if something is worth it is completely down to us as an individual and our circumstance. Personally I feel that this product is 100% worth the investment because I have seen proven results. If you’re on the quest for an antiageing skincare product that does exactly what it states and this is within your budget I honestly cannot recommend it enough.

I’ve used this twice a day for over two months and I still have most of the product left. A little goes a long way so it should last a good few months. It might only be that you need up to three bottles of this in a year depending on usage, myself I’d say two would be more than enough. It is my belief that we should invest in great skincare and I feel this is a great product worth the investment.
