I feel like I’m having a real moment with Anastasia Beverly Hills right now. This is their second launch of 2019, and also my second launch purchase. I absolutely love the ABH palettes, my two cult favourites being Modern Renaissance of course, and Soft Glam. Warm nude-toned palettes are my jam, and both of these palettes are two of my all-time favourites.

Anastasia Beverly Hills palettes are revered among beauty lovers and it’s easy to see why. I don’t think I know a fellow beauty junkie who doesn’t have at least one ABH palette in their collection. They’re such incredible staple palettes and there’s one to suit everyone and every taste. Yet they still continue to surprise us with every launch.

Sometimes you need to be bold

That said, as much as I adore my staple neutrals, sometimes you need to be bold. That’s exactly where I was at when I laid eyes on the Riviera palette which forms part of the brands Spring 2019 collection. It is such a fun and vibrant, yet daytime wearable palette. The shade range is incredible and I’m utterly smitten with my darling Riviera palette.

Makeup is all about creativity and fun, and the rules are, there are no rules. Anything goes. This palette captures this perfectly with its mixture of bold and neutral shades. You can be as minimal, or as out there as you want. Riviera combines the best of both worlds beautifully.

Even if summer is a way off yet, this is giving me all of the summer feels. I adore the outer packaging, chic nautical navy and white stripe with gold font. I actually prefer the texture of this to some of the other velour packaging on other palettes. This one will wipe clean and won’t end up covered in makeup after about three uses.

The name Riviera is so perfect for spring and summer-inspired palette and I equally love the shade names too. I know I keep saying this but I’m so in love with the shade selection. I was as soon as I laid eyes on it, to be honest. I’d been looking for a bold palette to pull me out of my comfort zone just the right amount. This is exactly that.

I have nothing like this in my collection making it 100% justified and necessary, to be honest. A girl can never have enough palettes, right?

The shade included are:

  • Sails (Matte white)
  • Yacht (Duo Chrome mauvy taupe with a violet shift)
  • Seychelles (Metallic aquamarine)
  • Palermo (Metallic jewel pink)
  • Seaside (Duo Chrome silver with a subtle blue shift)
  • Inheritance (Metallic true gold)
  • Mediterranean (Metallic sky blue)
  • Estate (Matte soft pastel peachy pink)
  • Cabana (Matte muted birch mustard)
  • Coastline (Matte pastel soft peach)
  • Bahamas (Matte bright bold candy hot pink pressed pigment)
  • Monte Carlo (Matte cool mid-tone pink)
  • Cannes (Matte bright violet-purple pressed pigment)
  • Palm (Matte dark chocolate-brown pressed pigment

One thing I feel is worth mentioning is that both the purple and pink matte shades are pressed pigments. There’s a higher chance of them staining the skin so keep that in mind when using them. I find using a primer helps to avoid this. They’re both incredibly pigmented for being such vibrant matte shades which is no mean feat to pull off. But as always Anastasia and Norvina have absolutely done it.

In keeping with the ABH palettes we know and love, this too has 14 paradise inspired shadows in a mix of matte and metallic finishes. I’m obsessed with the fun pops of colour included, it is the perfect palette for spring and summer looks, what’s more, I don’t have anything quite like it.

I totally get that this can look a little bold and even intimidating, but if you see past the vibrant pink and purple this is 100% wearable for every day too. The mix of neutral shades against the vibrant colourful ones is just right I feel. With this colour arrangement, the looks you could create are endless. I don’t think I’ve come across any two looks the same from this palette.

The metallics pack one hell of a punch

The formula is that we have come to love from Anastasia Beverly Hills. The metallics pack one hell of a punch with the colour payoff. In texture, they’re the rich, creamy and buttery dream you’d expect to find in this palette. The mattes have an insane payoff, every single shade does. You can tell a lot of work has gone into the formulation when you play around with the Riviera palette. They all blend out seamlessly to create makeup looks with ease.

So that just about covers everything, most likely more than once because I often get repetitive in a post when I’m gushing. Soz about that. But credit where credits due and all, I could shout about this from the rooftops. If you have a gap in your life for a fun and quirky palette, honestly, this is it. I have nothing but good things to say about this, and if you’re thinking about it, do it! She’s a limited edition palette, there’s nothing that haunts us more than the products we didn’t buy. Don’t make me say I told you so.

Get your hands on her here.

As I mentioned earlier this is my second new purchase from the brand, my first was from the Daytime and Sunset collection. You can read that post here.

  1. Honestly I am not bold at ALL. I never tend to stray from nudes – maybe green occasionally. But I love these colours and wish I was brave enough to try colours like these! I love the names of the shades too – makes me wanna whisk off somewhere exotic!

  2. The colours in this palette are really beautiful but they are way out of my comfort zone. I’d love to be able to wear bold colours but I just don’t think it’s me. 🙂

  3. The shades in this palette are beautiful. The more bright bold shades aren’t in my comfort zone.
I’ve had the Modern Renaissance palette on my list for so long and still need to get it. I also like the look of Sultry. I have just bought my first palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills, the Daytime quad. Looking forward to adding more to my collection from the brand.

  4. These pallette looks incredible.
I’ve been looking for something bold that isn’t urban decay for a while as I always buy UD but haven’t rated a coloured pallette I’ve had from them before. I might check this one out 🙂

  5. Oh wow how vibrant are these shades. Now when it comes to eye looks I’m all about the neutral shades and pinks. I can’t say this would be a palette for me, but those who are more daring it looks perfect.
