It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas. The Christmas adverts are out in abundance, shops have had a festive transformation and that can only mean one thing. It’s time to start thinking about Christmas shopping.
Is there someone in your life you’d like to get an extra special gift for? After all, it is Christmas and if you can’t spoil loved ones at Christmas when can you? Give the gift of luxury and opulence with the help of this curated guide, because sometimes socks and gift sets just won’t do.
Handbag
This is my personal favourite and weakness. I’m sure I speak for many when I say this, but my bag is my pride and joy. It’s nearly always my most loved part of my outfit and it’s something I adore and use time and time again. If you pick the right colour and style a bag can be incredibly versatile and work with an abundance of looks. Take time to consider the recipient’s lifestyle and wardrobe so you can try to match a bag in perfectly. You can’t go wrong with a classic style in black or a neutral colourway. The Gucci Marmont crossbody is a great all-rounder. YSL have some beautiful bags too and don’t forget Louis Vuitton.
SLG (Small Leather Good)
Most of us have a purse, wallet or cardholder we use daily making this a brilliant gift idea. Other great SLG’s are pouches that act as a catch-all inside of larger bags or a key holder. Much like with bags Louis Vuitton, Gucci and YSL have a great selection.
Gucci Ace Sneakers
Trainers are something I feel like most of us own making them a great gift idea. The Gucci Ace Sneakers are a minimalistic design making them incredibly versatile. As luxury trainers go, they’re not badly priced in my opinion. They’re stylish, comfortable, durable and versatile. They do tend to run a little big so it might be worth sizing down.
Jewellery / Watch
Gifting jewellery is very personal which I feel makes it all the more special. It’s a gift that can be worn and enjoyed for many years to come. A classic watch is equally as special and can be loved and worn daily. When it comes to classic watches Rolex is the brand of choice. Their designs are timeless, and they also hold their value. A luxury gift that can be loved and cherished for a lifetime.
Sunglasses
Sunglasses are an item I’m sure we all own at least one pair of and they’re always handy to have. Investing in good quality, versatile pair that can be used for years is why I think they make a great gift. Everyone has eyes; therefore, we all need sunglasses. When it comes to luxury eyewear brands, Ray-ban is my go-to. Their styles are versatile, and they always look good with Aviators and Wayfares staple designs.
Fragrance
Perfume and aftershave are a real win-win gift. I love to receive and gift fragrance because you can’t really go wrong. A fragrance isn’t something we often buy so it can make a special gift and it’s also very personal and unique. There are so many wonderful brands and you can find some truly beautiful and ornate bottle designs too. Some of my favourite luxury fragrance brands include Creed, Louis Vuitton, Jo Malone and Tom Ford. Often, they always come beautifully presented perfect for under the Christmas tree.
Dyson Hair Tools
Dyson is the ultimate in luxury hair tools and their iconic Supersonic Hair Dryer has been a global success. The innovative technology that goes into their products is incredible. Dyson also has the Airwrap which is equally as brilliant and most recently, the Coralle hair iron. Around Christmas, they’re often packaged in beautiful gift cases too.
Cashmere Knitwear
Cashmere is the gold standard when it comes to knitwear. A high-quality cashmere piece will last for years and be a real asset to anyone’s wardrobe. Good quality cashmere is an investment and no wardrobe should be without it in my opinion. The White Company, Arket and Marks and Spencer have some great pieces to choose from. Great ideas for gifting are jumpers, hats, scarves, gloves and socks. Cashmere is like a warm and snuggly hug and who wouldn’t love that?
The White Company Pyjamas
The jersey nightwear from The White Company is the best most incredible material I’ve worn. They have a good selection of items in this material, but my personal favourite is the classic pyjamas. It is worth noting that the bottoms can run very long, I’m on the petite side and I must have them altered. At Christmas time you can find the classic pyjamas in limited edition designs.
Body Care
Indulgent bathing is a real saviour in the winter months. There is nothing more comforting than immersing yourself in a hot bath to relax at the end of the day. Luxury bathing is probably not something we might buy ourselves but it’s a great opportunity to treat a loved one. Jo Malone, Laura Mercier, Molton Brown, Aesop, and The White Company are some of my favourite brands.
Beauty
Do you have a beauty lover that you’d like to spoil by adding a touch of luxury to their routine? Consider skincare brands such as La Mer, Augustinus Bader, Dr Barbra Strum or Dermalogica. If makeup is their jam, I also have some great brand suggestions in that department too. The iconic Charlotte Tilbury is a real winner, By Terry, Hourglass, Georgio Armani, Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, YSL, and Natasha Denona to name but a few.
