Pumpkin Picking At Arnprior Pumpkin Patch

It’s officially pumpkin season. Pumpkin picking and pumpkin patches are becoming ever more popular every year in the UK. Something that was a tradition across the pond in the US has migrated over to the UK and I am so incredibly happy it has! Long gone are the days of carving up a turnip or buying a pumpkin as part of the weekly grocery shop. Pumpkin picking is now a fun-filled Halloween day out for the whole family. If you’re wondering where the best place to go pumpkin picking in Scotland is, look no further. You need to check out Arnprior Pumpkin patch.

Pick Your Own Pumpkins at Arnprior Pumpkin Patch

Arnprior was the first Scottish farm to open a pick your own pumpkins patch in 2015. Back then the modest car park would take 8 cars at a time. Fast forward to 2021 and it’s always a sell-out event that spans over the last two weeks in October. This year, Arnprior farm will be home to a huge 15000 pumpkins across 6 acres!! 15000! That’s a lot of pumpkins.

Their famous Scottish pumpkins come in all shapes and sizes and even colours. They have many varieties of pumpkins, from HUGE Cinderella orange pumpkins to weird and wonderful green warty pumpkins, beautiful white pumpkins and even funky stripy ones too.

The fun doesn’t stop at the pumpkins, there’s a host of activities to get involved with. They have a dig for tatties patch and a pull your own turnip too. For the little ones, there’s quad pod rides, face painting,  the famous maze made of kale plus an all-weather haybale soft play area. They’ve got a really awesome set-up with a great autumnal, Halloween festival vibe going on. They even have a photographer on-site to capture a special memory of you and your family while you are on the farm. If that wasn’t enough there is a chainsaw carving show, pumpkin-themed crafts, and lots more to see and do.

Food & Drink

There are plenty of options for food and drink too, featuring local pop-up food trucks too with churros, home-baked cakes, woodfired pizzas, artisan Scottish beef burgers plus a horsebox gin truck and freshly ground artisan coffee team too. You really can’t beat a hot coffee to wrap your chilly hands around at this time of year.

Booking Tickets & How It Works

Due to the huge demand and popularity tickets are available daily across three time slots. The morning session is 0900 – 1200, the afternoon session is 1200-1500 and the evening session is 1500 – 1800. You may access the patch for a two-hour window within your slot, the first 30 minutes are to arrive and park and the final 30 minutes are to prepare and depart the site. The end of each session is marked by sounding a horn. I’ve included an image of the time schedule for booking below.

Tickets are priced at £6.50 per car for all guests in one vehicle. You may redeem this against a small pumpkin, or pay extra for a larger pumpkin. Make sure to bring you wellies as it can get very muddy at the farm. The farm is friendly so you can bring along your four-legged friends too as long as they’re kept on a lead.

Arnprior farm has recently added cute glamping pods and a heated indoor swimming pool to their land. What’s more autumnal than a day of pumpkin picking and activities before returning back to your cosy glamping pod?! The whole place has a great vibe with cosy lights hung from trees for extra autumn feels.
