Lake District Staycation

AD – In collaboration with Hotels.com, but all views are my own.

Generally, around this time many of us would be planning summer holidays or trips away. 2020 has been a year that none of us could have ever predicted. The list of destinations deemed safe to travel is almost non-existent. The pandemic has had a devastating impact on our travel and hospitality industry, not to mention the personal impact of adjusting to this new life. Overseas travel is pretty much out of the question but how about a UK Staycation? The UK has so much to offer and the best thing, it really reduces the risk by opting for a staycation over going abroad. Tucked away in the North West of England you have the Lake District abundant with stunning scenery.

One of the things I love most about the Lake District is that there is something for everyone. You can head there with the family and even take your pets. It is very much geared up for dogs specifically with many of the restaurants and hotels being dog friendly. As much as it is a family place it is also great for couples or even a solo traveller.

Sprawling out across 40+ miles of countryside, littered with quaint villages along the way and endless outdoor walks. Some of the most popular Lake District attractions include Windemere boat hire and lake cruises, The World of Beatrix Potter, The Lakes Aquarium, Honister Slate Mine, Holker Hall Gardens, Lakeland Motor Museum, Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway to name but a few.

Why Choose a Staycation?

A Staycation is that great middle ground of getting a much-needed break without the worry of travelling abroad. With everything this year has thrown our way we all need some familiarity and normality but most importantly, to feel safe. By choosing a staycation we have the peace of mind in knowing we are maintaining all of the rules and regulations in place to keep us safe.

You get to explore more of what the UK has to offer and it’s a great way to help our travel industry. Another huge bonus of travelling in our own country is no luggage allowance! If you travel in your own vehicle you have more freedom and it’s much safer.

If you do opt for any travel this year please ensure you check the latest information on the Governments website for updates.

  1. What gorgeous photos, makes me desperate to get out of these four walls! I’ve heard a lot about the Lake District but can’t believe I’ve never actually been myself. I really want to one day, it’s just a little far from me. Hopefully when the pandemic is over I’ll be able to treat myself to a little staycation and finally check out this area that gets so many rave reviews! Cute Disney weekender bag too 😄
