January Beauty, Lifestyle & Fitness Favourites

Happy new year lovelies, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and new year and that 2022 has been kind to you so far. This is not the post that I had intended on being my first of 2022 but thanks to a god awful chest infection that robbed me of two weeks, here we are.

So going into 2022 I’ve not set out goals as such but I’ve decided that it’s the year I invest in myself. By investing in myself I mean my health and well-being and focusing on what serves me. I’ve been keen to get back into some form of fitness but with my op and upcoming op I’m somewhat limited in my options. Enter Peloton, Peloton Bike to be exact. So alongside my health and fitness I wanted to do something for myself as a little treat to make me feel more put together. My treat of choice is regular gel manicures because when we have cute nails we feel so much better, am I right?

So without further rambling let’s just jump right in and see my January beauty, lifestyle and fitness favourites.

Peloton Bike

Should I buy the Peloton bike? Should I not? Is it too expensive? Are there any alternatives I should look at? This has been an ongoing debate raging on in my mind for well over a year at this point. I always knew I wanted the Peloton, but the price was a real sticking point for me, so I’d put myself off the idea. It started to occur to me that I’d think nothing of purchasing a luxury handbag that would be stored away more than it was used. My priorities didn’t sit too well with me after this realisation. If I can invest money into luxury items, I’m damn sure I can invest in myself. You can’t put a price on your health and wellbeing, so I finally pulled the trigger and bought a Peloton Bike.

I’m delighted with the bike and I’m so thrilled to finally have my very own. I should have done it sooner! I opted for the Bike+ and bought it as part of a package where the shoes, weights and a mat were also included in the price. I plan to do a dedicated post, so I won’t go into too much detail here but honestly, it’s the best thing I did. I’m enjoying the classes and finding my feet with it; I’d forgotten how painful the saddle can be until you adjust. That’s the biggest challenge I’m finding since getting it.

Astley Clarke Locket

They say the devil is in the detail and what better way to add that touch of extra detail than a piece of jewellery. Necklaces and pendants are my go-to when it comes to accessorising. The most recent addition to my jewellery collection is by Astley Clarke who has some truly stunning pieces. I chose one of their beautiful lockets for the added touch of personalisation. What’s more special than carrying a locket complete with a photo hidden within? They have a beautiful collection of lockets available. I wanted to keep it simple with my choice so that it would lend itself perfectly to any look. They offer a great mix of materials and colours for all styles.

I picked the Deco Black Sapphire locket in yellow gold. I love the geometric art deco style and shape with the black stone. It also comes with a clear stone in yellow gold and silver. Astley Clarke can fit photos into the locket via an upload option which makes it hassle-free. It can be a little bit fiddly cutting tiny photos and trying to fit them yourself.

GHD Glide Hot Brush

Hair is not my strong point so I’m a total sucker for a product or tool that is a foolproof way to a good hair day. The GHD Glide hot brush is everything that I hoped it would be. I can achieve fairly straight hair with my hairdryer for around 10 minutes before it goes all fluffy. I’ve come to realise that the only way to manage this is with some kind of heated tool sadly. The less time I can spend on my hair the better which is why the GHD Glide appealed to me so much. It literally took me 5 minutes to do all of my hair and it was so smooth and sleek. I’m delighted with how simple and effortless this has been to use and I can’t recommend it enough.

Papier Planner

I skipped out on a planner for 2021 after my 2020 planner spent more time collecting dust thanks to good old covid. Against my better judgement, I decided to take the plunge and invest in a planner for 2022. Here’s hoping that my optimism is not wildly misplaced and this planner actually sees some use. I have successfully added a few plans for the year which I’m keeping everything crossed actually happen!

My planner of choice is from Papier. I found a referral code that meant I paid about £12 or so with postage! Bargain! I love that their stationery is customisable to offer some creative freedom. I kept it pretty simple with mine but oh how good it feels to write in a planner.

If you’re in the market for some new stationery feel free to use my referral code for a jammy £15 off your order. It is an affiliate link so I do receive some account credit if you make a qualifying purchase at no extra cost to yourself.

Cuccio Honey & Milk Cuticle Oil

As a little three weekly treat to myself, I started getting gel manicures and to help maintain them I’ve been using a lot of cuticle oil. As I was in the market for a new oil, I did a little bit of research to see which ones were well-reviewed. Cuccio Honey and Milk cuticle oil kept coming up and with just shy of 80,000 5-star reviews I wasted no time in ordering a bottle. As it turns out it’s actually pretty darn good and it smells divine. It’s super hydrating and it leaves my digits nourished and happy what’s more, my gel lasts longer too. It’s a huge bottle too for less than £10.00! Bargain.

For topping up my oil when I’m on the go I keep my trusty cuticle oil pen from NAF in Pina Colada scent. It’s so delicious I can’t stop applying it! Must stock up.

Burga Phone Cases

I’m of the belief that you can never have too many phone cases and to that end, I’ve just received four new ones from Burga. They have some beautiful designs and a wide range of cases available. They’re currently running a buy two get two free deal so that’s how I’ve ended up with four. I also ordered a matching Airpod case too. They feel high quality and durable. I ordered the tough cases which have a silicone layer under the plastic casing for added protection.

CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser

My skin took a total wobbler on me recently and it was so problematic! After trying some products that didn’t help I decided to take it back to basics with my routine and I turned to CeraVe. I’d dabbled with their cleansers before so I knew I enjoyed them. The SA Smoothing Cleanser with salicylic acid was my weapon of choice and what a difference I saw. It was so lovely and gentle while clearing and smoothing out my skin. It was a dream to use and more so to finally get some relief from the irritation I’d recently experienced. It was everything I needed and hoped that it would be and if like myself you’ve had issues with sensitive skin, CeraVe worked wonders for me.

I hope you’ve enjoyed checking out my loves of January, I’ve listed a few other posts below I think you might like.
