Summer Beauty Edit

The days get longer, the weather gets warmer, hair gets lighter, skin gets darker, life gets so much better with the arrival of summer. Not only that but it is also acceptable to drink gin through the day! After enduring the long winter we’ve had I fully intend to embrace every last bit of summer! In the UK you can never tell how long it’s going to last so we need to make the most of it! HALLELUJAH!! Summer has finally ARRIVED and what a glorious one it is shaping up to be! When as a resident of the UK have you even known there to be such a long, dry, hot and sunny period, I literally don’t believe it’s ever happened in my lifetime.

As we welcome in a new season I always look forward to making seasonal changes to my beauty habits, body care routine, and my wardrobe. Summer changes are one of my favourite because I live for all things coconut, unless its edible because yuk!! It’s the ultimate summer scent for me and it really gives me tropical and exotic beach vibes which is just what you want for summer, right? I have a couple of truly stunning perfumes that really emulate summer for me, my favourite has to be my bottle of Tom Ford Soleil Blanc eau de parfum.

Remote private islands where summer lasts all year and one day seamlessly blends into the next inspire Soleil Blanc, an addictive solar floral amber alive with seductive refinement and refreshing decadence. Tom Ford’s latest private blend creation unapologetically exudes the endless pursuit of sun and luxury that defines Tom Ford Soleil”.

It definitely isn’t priced for the faint hearted that’s for sure, but we all have that one luxury splurge that makes us feel a certain type of way when we wear or use it, for me it has to be this. The packaging is to die for, the scent of summer encased in a fresh white glass bottle with golden details and outer packaging. I would keep this bottle even after the perfume has been used because it is too beautiful to throw away, it would be a sin if I did.

Summer will hold its own meaning to each of us, but to me it’s about glow and radiance and I definitely carry this ideal throughout my makeup picks at this time of year. I am all about the sun-kissed beach glow and I have my fail safe, go to products to help me achieve this. I only discovered this bronzer last year and I’m in love with it, it gives the most natural glow that last all day! I am of course talking about none other than Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel. It is a beautiful cream bronzer that applies and blends out on the skin seamlessly. I took this on my last holiday and it’s all I wore on my face to achieve that holiday glow. It is a little pricey but for me it is 100% worth every penny.

With the golden sun-kissed tan taken care of its time to add some luminosity and glow! If you can’t shine brighter than the sun during summer when can you! I love that wet, dewy complexion at this time of year, not wet as in a hot sweaty, fresh from sunbathing mess, but more so that natural, glow with highlight in all of the right places. The first product I reach for to work up an all over glow is Charlotte Tilbury Wonderglow primer, it gives my skin a beautiful radiance and sometimes I wear this alone with my Chanel bronzer for a natural and effortless glow. Paired with a bright lip and some wispy lashes this is one of my go to summer looks. So simple yet so effective.

A summer post wouldn’t be complete in my humble opinion without including a highlight to make you look like you have sun-beams shooting from your face. Ladies and gentlemen I give you the Iconic London Illuminator – Original. This gorgeous champagne gold liquid illuminator is the perfect product for that wet skin look I love so much, it can be worn alone, or mixed into base products for an all over glow. The highlight you get from this product is so intense, I love to apply and blend it in with a damp beauty sponge for the best results. It is the perfect summer glow in a bottle. I don’t stop at my face with this, I use it on my shoulders, collar bones, neck and chest too just to be that bit extra.

Being a pasty patty I love to use a false tan at this time of year to bring some warmth and colour to my skin. I never get my legs out so come summer they’re usually whiter than a bottle of semi skimmed. While there isn’t anything wrong with embracing my natural fair skin, I perfect to add a subtle tan to pair with my summer dresses. My weapon of choice this year is the much-loved Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam. A foam tan is my prefered formula and I bought this one after seeing so many great reviews, it leaves my skin with a beautiful golden olive tone.

The devil is in the detail so they say, one simple but stunning final touch to any summer look is with the nails. Freshly bronzed I like to choose colour that really accentuate my tan while being fun and bright for summer. I’ve fallen head over heels for my OPI nail polish in the shade We Seafood & Eat It*. It is a vibrant lobster red colour and its the perfect shade to compliment a golden tan.

Leaving the most important summer essentials until last and I’m sure you can guess it.. SPF!! I view a SPF as equally important as remembering to drink your 8 glasses of water per day, or remembering to put your bra on, it really is that important. I wear an SPF all year personally but in the summer I tend to increase the factor. On my days I opt for a more natural face I always use my Kiehl’s Ultra Light Daily Moisturiser SPF50 to protect my skin. The formula is so lightweight and quickly absorbed it doesn’t leave my oily combination skin feeling greasy or heavy.

My other hero SPF product is the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream SPF 50, it is the perfect base and it provides factor 50 sun protection. It’s such a popular product with beauty lovers worldwide and it’s not hard to see why. You can guarantee this will be the only base product I take on holiday with me to give me coverage and protection.

So there you have it, my go to summer beauty edit picks. Do you change your beauty routines to match the seasons?

  1. Although I hate Summer and I’m fully ready to embrace these cooler temperatures and Autumn any day now, I’m a huge fake tan lover / wearer but I desperately need to find myself a new fake tan because I’m not particularly enjoying my one anymore so I really like the sound of the Bondi Sands one! Does a foam settle into your skin quickly? Because I hate it when you’re sticky for hours after applying fake tan!

  2. My beauty routine is very minimal, I just went to Ulta to buy some beauty products and was so overwhelmed that I just bought a makeup brush and some face wash.

  3. Aaaaah Tom Ford is just so special it looks and sounds incredible! Loving the summer edits at the moment, I need to get myself some of the tan too!

I also love the Bondi Sands tan, it’s my favourite and leaves such a nice colour.
This has reminded me that I need to buy an SPF for my face x

  5. Lovely post! I have heard so many good things about the Iconic liquid highlighter, it looks like a product that would be perfect for holiday or in the hot weather! Lovely post x
