Sephora Haul: Skincare, Hair & Body

Oh, Sephora. To us beauty loving Brits Sephora is the holy grail. The forbidden fruit we want so much to have, but cannot. I’m still not over being given the cold shoulder by Sephora in truth. I still feel bitter about the whole situation. But it is what it is.

Upon booking a trip to the US my thoughts quickly turned to what I would buy when I finally was able to access Sephora.

Not as easy to plan when you aren’t able to get online to mentally prepare your shopping list.

While putting together my wishlist I tried to be mindful of my weight allowance. Despite my best efforts to pack light I only managed to have around 3kg to spare. When you consider the weight of beauty products and their packaging 3kg isn’t a whole lot to play with.

However, that was soon forgotten the second I stepped foot in Sephora. Four separate visits later I had maxed out both mine and Jacks luggage limit, and I had to buy an additional carry on case to give me an extra 10kg to play with. That had to carry some of my Bath and Body Works goodies too and candles don’t come light when you stockpile your favourite scents!

To make the most of my time in the US and my free pass to Sephora for the fortnight I stalked their site planning my purchases. I made sure to buy products I would be unable to buy in the UK. I’m not sure if that was smart or stupid. If I end up liking them I’m going to struggle to repurchase. Hmm. Possibly both smart and stupid in equal measure.

Without further ado and more rambling let’s just take a look at the good stuff. That’s why you’re here after all.

Tatcha

Ok. This was an absolute no brainer for me. I’ve used Tatcha before and loved it. This time there was a couple of new products I was keen to add to my collection. The first was the Deep Cleanse. I’ve watched a lot of reviews where this was mentioned and raved about. It is targeted towards oiler combination skin types to thoroughly clean leaving the skin deeply cleansed. I’ve noticed my skin becoming annoyingly more oily of late so this is hopefully going to counter that.

My next item was one I had been keen to try for a while and that is The Water Cream. Fond of a hydrating water cream I knew I’d be purchasing this almost as soon as I booked the trip. Packed full of nutrients, hyaluronic acid and minerals it gives the skin a fix of hydration. The packaging is gorgeous too, it comes complete with a gold spatula on the top for a more hygienic application.

My third and final Tatcha purchase was a repurchase. The Gentle Rice Enzyme Exfoliator. I adore this product and I love how my skin feels after using it. This is my favourite kind of exfoliator as it is gentle but the results are amazing. If you have the chance to buy one thing from Tatcha, this is it. It comes in three variants depending on your skin type. This one is for normal skin and it works well for me despite my skin being more on the oily to combination side.

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial

This was another product I knew immediately that I would be buying. When I heard Drunk Elephant was coming to UK retailers I hoped to buy this then. Unfortunately, that was not to be thanks to our stringent beauty laws.

With the promise of as the name suggests baby soft skin I was keen to see how it would live up to such a bold statement. With both rave reviews and awards, I have high hopes for this product.

Glow Recipe Retinol Avocado Eye Sleeping Mask

Already an avid lover of Glow Recipe I couldn’t wait till this arrived in the UK to snap it up. Avocados have so many incredible benefits for us that I wanted a slice of the action for my eye area. Alongside being a superfood for our face it is packed with hero ingredient retinol! We all know the wonders that are retinol by now I’m sure. With the promise of reducing lines to reveal a more youthful appearance, I was sold!

The eye cream comes complete with a plastic scoop to save having to dip our fingers into the jar. I’m not gonna lie, I am a real sucker for Glow Recipes packaging too.

Sephora Collection

Ok, so Sephora now has their own line of skincare. Not just the sheet masks and eye patches, oh no! They’ve created a whole range of skincare, reasonably priced skincare at that! Well, I felt like a kid in a sweet shop at first spotting this on the shelf! I didn’t go too cray cray with this as Sephora.fr stock it if you can fathom the language barrier! I bagged three products to give a whirl.

Said three products I picked up are all face moisturiser of sorts. The first Firming Sleeping Cream because who doesn’t enjoy a great night cream that works hard while you catch z’s? It had good reviews and for the price, I was intrigued. Next up I got the Matte Cream because I’m an oily combo gal and I need that matte life. Originally I bought one but I really liked it so went back for a second! Finally, I bought the Hydrator Cream because oily skin is often a thirsty skin. So when I’m not sleeping or living that matte life I’ll be rehydrating with this baby!

Summer Fridays CC Me Serum

I’m going to be completely honest here. At the time of buying this, I wasn’t entirely sure what it did. However, I was having a real love affair with my Jet Lag Mask by Summer Fridays that I threw caution to the wind and bought it. What I did know was that it is a Vitamin C face serum and that promises to brighten the skin, locking in moisture and correcting hyperpigmentation. All-in-all it sounded pretty darn good to me.

Sephora Collection Skincare

Ouai Rose Hair & Body Oil

This has been on my wish list for some time. While I was in the queue to check out I spotted a dinky bottle in amongst the travel-size items Sephora tempt us with. Tempt me they did because despite not needing to buy it in the US, I did buy it in the US.

This is a convenient product that doubles up as a leave-in hair treatment and body oil. It is perfectly sized for travel and given its dual-use it will save carrying extra products. As if that weren’t good enough it also smells delicious!

Josie Maran Whipped Argan Oil Body Butter

This is one of the best body butters that I’ve tried and I hate we can’t get it in the UK. It restores softness and improves skin’s texture with the nourishing power of Josie’s signature 100% Pure Argan Oil whipped to buttery perfection. This ultra-hydrating body butter enriches skin with essential fatty acids and antioxidants to soften and smooth for firmer-looking skin. The lightweight, velvety texture absorbs instantly for immediate and long-lasting nourishment.

It would have been a sin for me not to have restocked on this baby while I was in the US.

Biossance

I had no previous knowledge of this brand I got to the States. I was browsing Sephora online and noticed Biossance had an array of rave reviews. On the ground that I had a golden ticket to buy things typical we can’t in the UK I snapped up a few finds. This could prove as stupid as it seemed smart at the time. Should I like the products, restocking could and probably will be problematic.

The first things I picked was the Top Shelfies value set to give me a good place to start off trying the brand. It includes

  • Peptide Eye Gel + Squalane – A weightless, ultra-hydrating bestselling eye gel reduces the look of puffiness and dark circles while visibly firming and smoothing away crepiness.
  • Phyto-Retinol Serum + Squalane  – Plant-derived alternative to retinol reduces the look of lines and wrinkles while visibly firming—without the irritation or sensitivity associated with retinol.
  • Probiotic Gel Moisturizer + Squalane – A weightless, ultra-hydrating moisturizer infused with squalane and probiotic technology to help maintain skin’s hydration, balance redness and reduce the appearance of pores.
  • Omega Repair Cream + Squalane – Rich lipid cream that mimics skin’s natural moisture barrier with squalane, omega fatty acids, ceramides and plant sterols to help nourish, plump, hydrate and feed your skin—with no greasy residue.
  • Vitamin C Rose Oil + Squalane – A luxurious face oil that visibly brightens with an oil-soluble, stable form of vitamin C and helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

In addition to that, I also bought the Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream. A rich, anti-ageing eye cream that revitalizes and brings a lifted look to eyes. Delivers deep hydration leaving skin smooth and with a youthful-looking radiance. The final item I got was the Squalane + Rose Vegan Lip Balm. An ultra-moisturizing vegan lip balm packed with ceramides and hyaluronic acid that helps replenish, hydrate, and soften lips. Enriched with Wakame algae that delivers a visibly plump, youthful-looking lips. Since buying this good old Cult Beauty have started stocking this brand, along with a lot of ones I mention here.

  1. Whilst I was away, I went into 3 Sephoras and came out empty handed each time. I find it overwhelming, never know what to buy and rush back out the door! These look like some fab purchases though
    Em x

  2. Still no clue as to why the UK dont have a Sephora when places in Europe do – I went to one in both Krakow and Prague! I really want to try their own branded skincare as I’ve read a lot about it x
