Ecooking Skincare Review

Let me stop you there, you did read the title correctly. I’m not suffering momentary madness, honestly, Ecooking is a Danish skincare brand. The name Ecooking definitely doesn’t make you think of skincare. I was sure when I saw it I’d read it wrong until I did a double-take. The brand has opted for a very minimalist style, keeping it simple and proving less is more? Stay tuned.

The brand initially started out in the kitchen of a fellow beauty junkie, and she began by blending raw ingredients to create unique formulas. Proving popular among her friends and family, and after further perfecting her products Ecooking was born, combining ‘eco’ ideals (with its natural, environmentally friendly outlook) with ingredients so pure that some can even be used in ‘cooking’. The name doesn’t sound so weird now does it?

Well after discovering this I was intrigued, I love the idea of natural ingredients and a brand that favours an eco approach. It’s definitely something we’re seeing more of and I’m all for it. I couldn’t wait to delve in and see how I’d get on with the products.

So let’s take a look at everything I’ve been testing and see how they worked out for me. Hopefully, you might find something to try amongst them yourself.

Derma Roller*

I’ve been wanting to try a Derma Roller for such a long time. I’d always put off taking the plunge because, well quite frankly it freaked me right out. Rolling hundreds of tiny needles over my face did not fill me with confidence. It goes against the grain really. However, as I’d heard so many great things about them and I decided to put my big girl pants on and try one!

I, of course, have the smallest needle size roller at 0.5mm. Let’s not run before I can walk as it were. I tried it all over my hands and arms before finally allowing it anywhere near my face. It was like the moment before your first tattoo where you build up the fear and it’s all for nothing. I’d say it was a slight nipping/tingling sensation over the skin but no big deal really.

Featuring 540 tiny (0.5mm) needles that can safely be used on the face, neck and décolleté of all ages and skin types. Stimulating cells as it rolls, this treatment promotes elasticity and can be used to counteract enlarged pores and oiliness to pigmentation and signs of ageing.

Since using I have found my skin looking healthier, more plumped and my fine lines appear reduced. It looks a lot more radiant and glowy I’ve found too. Whether it is from this alone, or a combined effort of the products I’m unsure, but I’m not mad at it! I find it painless to use on my skin, I barely notice it now. If you’re considering trying a derma roller, I cannot recommend it enough. I have noticed amazing benefits and changes in my skin. I personally use this around three times a month spaced no fewer than 10 days peruse. This amount of usage works well for me and my skin type.

24 Hour Cream*

This is a fab product for anyone with drier skin. Mine is typically combination so this can be a little heavy for daily use. After recently getting bad sunburn this was my saving grace. It was perfect for my parched, dry skin. I carried it in my handbag and regularly applied it to my worst affected areas.

Enriched with a powerful blend of Shea Butter and Sweet Almond Oil, the lightweight cream sinks effortlessly into the skin to replenish moisture levels and soothe any feelings of sensitivity or irritation. After use, expect soft, supple and healthy-looking skin for up to 24 hours.

My skin definitely looked well-nourished after use, but it also encouraged extra oil production if I used it too regularly. I can see me reaching for this a lot more as we move into late autumn and winter. It would be incredible for anyone who has drier skin than mine.

Eye Cream 30ml*

Ok. So the first thing I loved about this was the generous amount of product you get. Generally, eye creams come in around 15ml. It’s not often you see double like this one. Kudos Ecooking!

The second thing I love is the packaging itself. Being a pump dispenser makes it so much more hygienic and given it’s for the delicate eye area, this is a huge plus for me. With the best will in the world you can’t help bacteria building in products we put our fingers in. I can get a little OCD on the germ front so the packaging from this brand is a big deal.

Infused with a powerful cocktail of anti-ageing ingredients including Coconut Oil, Vitamin A and Glycerin, the moisturising treatment delivers instant hydration to balance dark circles, smooth fine lines and calm puffiness.

Lightweight and soothing, the formula sinks in effortlessly to support natural collagen production and firm the eye contour to combat the signs of ageing caused by fatigue, UV damage and free radicals. Expect toned, radiant and youthful results.

The formula itself is a light cream that applies and is absorbed into the skin with ease. It feels lovely on the skin and leaves my eye area looking hydrated and nourished. I felt that after using it for a couple of weeks my eye contour appeared smoother and brighter looking.

Clay Mask*

Being an oily combination gal I adore a good clay mask to banish the oil and minimise my pores. It’s a constant battle to keep it under control, especially in the warmer months. In the winter it’s a bit more manageable but even then I find myself opting for heavier creams which in turn creates excess oil. It’s a constant uphill struggle. One thing that helps hugely with this, is clay masks. Clay coaxes the oil out from deep within my pores and dries it out. My pores are barely visible. I just wish the results lasted longer but that’s down to my skin type rather than the products.

I couldn’t wait to cake my face in the green clay mask by Ecooking. On first inspection, I was a little surprised by how thick it was and wondered how well it would apply. I used a small facial brush to apply and to my surprise, the mask was far more pliable than it looked. It spread over the skin with minimal effort leaving behind a generous layer to detox my skin. It smelt edible, sort of like fresh greens?

The clay acts as an anti-inflammatory, it has been formulated with vitamin A, zinc salt and iris extract to help thoroughly cleanse, refresh and reboot skin. Perfect for addressing excess oil, redness and breakouts, this hard worker also replenishes lost hydration to the skin too. It leaves my skin looking thoroughly cleansed, but not dry. It looks fresh and clear with my pores, well what pores I ask? Pores you can’t see are the best kind of pores if you ask me. I’m a big fan of this mask, I love how my skin feels after I rinse it off. It leaves the perfect canvas to continue with my skincare routine. The products absorb so much better when I use this mask.

Multi Balm*

This is such a great, universal product with so many uses. Since getting this it has been in my handbag and with me anywhere I go. As I suffer from eczema and the worst dry hands, you will often see me reaching for this.

The ultimate BFF for dry, damaged skin, this multi-tasking miracle balm is enriched with highly moisturising ingredients to regenerate even the thirstiest skin types. Created with vitamin E, shea butter and thistle oil, this naturally-charged wonder can be used to treat insect bites, burns, cracked lips and eczema, as well as to nourish dry areas of skin and cuticles. This is a real hero product for me and I absolutely love it!

Vitamin E Serum 20ml*

Much like the 24-hour cream, this is a bit heavy for my skin for daily use. That said I was reaching for this multiple times a day recently in my battle against sunburn.

The multi-purpose miracle formula delivers a healing effect and provides superior antioxidant properties. Ideal for use on wounds, scars, tattoos, sun damage and very dry skin. Deeply moisturising and hydrating, the lightweight, non-greasy serum absorbs quickly to address a host of skincare concerns.

Vitamin e is well known and loved for how well it nourishes and protects the skin. This serum applies like silk to the skin as it envelops it in a loving layer of vitamin e goodness. I only needed a pea-size amount, a tiny pea at that to cover my entire face. I was a bit confused almost when I saw this was a 20ml bottle, and the eye cream was 30ml. I’d have expected it to have been the other way around. When I first began using the range I often grabbed the eye cream and proceeded to cover my face and this serum for under my eyes.

It definitely threw me for a loop. But having used it for a little while now and given how little I need, even a 20ml bottle will go a long way.

Lip Balm*

A lip balm that nourishes lips, adds shine and enhances their natural colour? Who could refuse? Ecooking’s Lip Balm is enriched with mint to offer a slight cooling effect (perfect in stuffy summer months) as well as boosting blood circulation, in turn enhancing the natural colour of your lips.

I’m a total sucker for a lip balm and with a description like that, I was in, hook, line and sinker! I absolutely love it. It is a beautiful texture, not to thick, but not too thin you can barely detect it. I love that it is packaged in a little tin with zero plastic. Yet another fab product from Ecooking.

Overall, I’ve been really impressed by Ecooking. I love the ethical and eco-friendly approach they take and I’d love to continue exploring the brand.

  1. The name is amazing, at first I thought it’s a food line not skincare line 😀 Nice design but derma roller is probably the only thing that got me since I like some new gadgets 🙂

  2. I got a bunch of samples from this brand from Feel Unique but still haven’t got around to using them yet! I will definitely look them out after reading this. The eye cream and clay mask sound fab.
