5 Must Have Dermalogica Products For Better Skin Days

Dermalogica is a brand that had been on my radar for quite some time before I actually tried a single product. Being a lover of all things beauty and skincare it hadn’t escaped my notice how many rave reviews were flying around. It wasn’t long before I decided that I had to try Dermalogica for myself and see what all of the fuss was about. After becoming a member of the Dermalogica Skinfluencer program I was finally able to try out their products. When the first package arrived I couldn’t tear into it quick enough. When it comes to trying out products from the brand Dermalogica had my well covered.

Within the package, there were five skincare products.

Precleanse* 

This is the first stage of the double cleanse and we all know the benefits of a double cleanse by now. PreCleanse is an oil-based formula which will attract superficial dirt and stubborn make-up like a magnet. Achieve ultra clean and healthy-looking skin with the Double Cleanse regimen that begins with PreCleanse. Thoroughly melt away layers of excess sebum, sunscreen, waterproof makeup, environmental pollutants and residual products that build up on skin throughout the day.

I really love this product. As someone with oily-combination skin, I do find that I get excess sebum and this completely removed all traces of it. Makeup just melts away under my fingertips as I massage the PreCleanse into my skin, even dark eye makeup comes away with ease. It’s my favourite product to use as my first cleanser in my double cleanse routine.

Special Cleansing Gel*

Once my skin is ready to perform a second cleanse I reach for my Special Cleansing Gel for a deep clean while maintaining the natural skin’s pH. Refreshing lather thoroughly removes impurities, without disturbing the skin’s natural moisture balance. This iconic cleanser, which contains naturally-foaming Quillaja Saponaria, gently rinses away toxins and debris to leave skin feeling smooth and clean. It offers my skin a thorough and deep cleanses without being harsh and leaving my skin taught and dry. It really helps to balance out my skin I feel. Gel formulas are my personal favourite for my skin type and this one works beautifully.

Daily Microfoliant*

I feel that this is a real hero skincare product, I for one adore this Daily Microfoliant. The product itself is a rice-based powder that activates on contact with water. It foams up a little releasing papain, salicylic acid and rice enzymes to polish skin. The formula is gentle enough for daily use although I never use it daily. I don’t feel that my skin requires a daily polish so I tend to use it a couple of times per week.

It leaves my skin feeling thoroughly exfoliated without feeling stripped or dry. My skin is left looking brightened and healthier and perfectly prepared for the rest of my routine. I definitely find that after using this my serum and moisturiser seem to absorb better into my skin. I have this in a few different sizes so that I can always carry it with me wherever I go. This is one of those products that I would recommend to anyone. If you could only buy one thing from the brand, this is it.

Skin Smoothing Cream*

This moisturiser is the perfect middle ground for my oily-combination skin. It offers enough hydration without overdoing it on my oilier areas. Harnessing what Dermalogica are calling next-generation state-of-the-art Active HydraMesh Technology™ to infuse skin with 48 hours of continuous hydration and help protect against environmental stress. A cocktail of a hyaluronic acid complex with mallow, cucumber and arnica delivers hydration throughout the skin, helping to lock in moisture for lasting hydration. Also formulated with naturally-antioxidant Grape Seed Extract, Vitamin C and Vitamin E.

I love how well this works for my skin. I always find it a struggle to find a moisturiser that doesn’t leave my skin greasy around the t-zone or drier everywhere else. The daily battles with oily-combination skin. Somehow my Skin Smoothing Cream manages to both moisturise my skin without adding or increasing oiliness. My skin is hydrated and nourished all day while maintaining the right balance.

Age Smart Skinperfect Primer SPF30*

I have to admit to initially feeling that I wouldn’t get a lot of use from this. I was soon to learn how wrong I was. This primer works to smooth fine lines, brighten and prime for flawless skin, and prep for make-up application. It has a velvety formula with Soy Protein that helps even out skin texture, creating a smoother surface. I often wear this alone as the last step my in routine to give my skin an even appearance and to reduce my pores and fine lines. It gives me the perfect base to apply makeup over and the best thing is that it offers an SPF30 to protect my skin.

All of the products I’ve mentioned were picked out to meet my skins needs. That said I do feel that they would be suitable for most skin types. Dermalogica is a brand I love and adore, their formulations are some of my all-time favourites.
